Please wear a t-shirt, workout pants, or shorts.

Draping and Respecting Your Comfort

If you are someone who has a modesty issue, please request to be draped, during a Sports, or Four-handed massage.

Set an Intention

There are many reasons that individuals want to receive a massage. Some what to de-stress and get calm, others might want to recover from a minor injury or prepare for an athletic performance, and others just want to benefit from being cared for through the power of touch. What is your intention, your reason for booking a massage? When contacting your massage professional to book your appointment, please be clear about:

  1. What your purpose is for receiving a massage

  2. What type of massage you a looking to receive

  3. How long you would like to be massaged

  4. To ask any other questions you might have

  5. To listen to any travel instructions your massage professional may have for you

Observe Personal Cleanliness

As a massage professional, I must uphold proper sanitation and personal hygiene, to minimize the risk of transmitting any bacteria or virus to my clients.

  • Shower prior to your massage appointment; a standard request as a massage client. For your convenience, use of the shower facility is provided for an add-on of $10. If you are coming straight from work and you think that you might be late, please call me and I will make every effort to offer you your full session.

  • Do not eat any food, especially pungent foods, at least two hours before your massage appointment.

  • Practice excellent oral hygiene and use mouth wash.

  • Do not wear any perfumes or colognes, the day of your massage session.

Punctuality

Please arrive at least 15 minuets early for your massage session; so that you can secure a parking spot, walk to the massage space, and your massage professional can ask you some basic information regarding how to design the best massage session for you. Your arrival time will determine the length of your massage session, which will end as scheduled so that the next client may begin promptly.

What areas of my body will be massaged?

A typical Swedish massage session will include touch on your back, legs, buttocks, feet, arms, hands, head, neck, and shoulders.

What will the massage or bodywork feel like?
A massage feels different for everyone and is based on the pressure, the speed, the intent, and the results desired by the client. In general, an excellent massage feels amazing! A Classical or Swedish massage is often the foundation for techniques used on clients.

What do I do during the massage?
The touch is 'one-way', administered by your massage professional. Clients have the right to request how, and where they receive massage work. The best way to participate in a massage, is to be attentive, be relaxed, and be receptive to the work.

Clear Communication and Vitality

Please communicate to your massage professional if the pressure being used is what you prefer. If there is a pressure or technique that is being used that you find pleasing, let them know. If there is a pressure level or technique your massage professional is using that is uncomfortable to you, let them know. Although a client can request a specific amount of pressure or technique, your massage professional will inform you if what you are asking for is 'contraindicative' to the results desired.

The therapist will use their discretion when a particular request compromises your safety, or their own. Please understand that when receiving Sports Therapy, or other Clinical massage, it can be slightly painful at times, and may result in minor bruising. If you would prefer not to experience pain and decrease your chances of bruising during your massage session, requesting a Classical/Swedish massage is recommended.

Keep Conversation About the Massage Work

Clients may ask their massage professional about the benefits of massage, the techniques being used, booking their next appointment, self-care methods, etc. Your therapist is focused on creating a safe and secure client/therapist relationship. Please refrain from asking personal questions regarding relationship status, religious beliefs, political views, and or medical advice.

Medical History and Medication

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable? Yes. That's why it's imperative that before you begin your session, your massage professional will asks general health questions. It is very important that you inform your massage professional of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.

How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?
Most people feel very relaxed and in a light sleep state. Please take advantage of your chance to rest in the after affects of the massage work, for there is no rush to jump off the massage table, as this can increase the chance of injuring yourself due to the lack of the use of motor skills. If you need assistance with getting off the massage table, let your massage professional know, promptly. After an initial period of deep relaxation, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days or weeks.

After the massage has ended, you will be gently notified

Mutual Kindness and Respect

It is very important that you and your massage professional treat each other with kindness or non-harm. Sometimes things can turn out different than we had planned, or a misunderstanding is made about something. When these difficult moments arrive, communicate your concerns to your massage professional with kindness. Please do your best to be respectful towards your massage professional, as they will be doing their best to deliver excellent customer service for you.

Stay Hydrated

Please begin hydrating your body with water at least 24 hours before your massage session. Proper hydration will reduce any muscle soreness that you may experience after your massage, especially if you are receiving clinical or sports therapy. During massage, toxins in the body are being circulated and releasing and proper intake of water will further assist in flushing those out of your body.
